Small Business Ventures- Brilliance or Folly?

Is starting a small business brilliance or folly?  Certainly options for home-based businesses and work from home businesses have never been greater.  The internet has made it possible for all of to have the world as our marketplace.  Many small business entrepreneurs make their living at a computer, whether it be online writing, or possibly online marketing.  Others may use the internet as but one of many marketing strategies. 

Most businesses offer products or services.  Obviously it is crucial that what is offered is actually something that people want or need.  Some products or services are necessities, like air conditioning, heating, plumbing and electricity.  Other businesses may offer gifts and “luxury” items.  Some may be very specialized niches.  In a down economy, people are more apt to continue paying for products and services that are considered necessities.  But do people spend money on extras when the budget is tight? 

So is it a great time to start a small business, because the options have never been greater?  Or with an uncertain economy, is it folly?  Our HubMobsters provide a wealth of knowledge and diverse prospective on small businesses.

For the last year Shirley Anderson has compiled the weekly HubMob roundup hub.  That means collecting all of the HubMob hubs written each week and conveniently linking to them in a roundup hub.  Our record-breaking Toys HubMob required four roundup hubs!  Shirley found herself too busy with her freelance work to continue rounding up our HubMob hubs.  She has promised to drop in on us and join in on the HubMob weekly topic when possible.  Shirley will continue to write hubs, and remains on the HubNuggets team.
